Before you start
Use Coinbase in a web browser and keep another available verification method. This is not Coinbase Wallet setup.
Open the security settings
- Open your Coinbase 2-step verification settings.
- Under Available Methods, choose Set up beside Authenticator app.
Connect Authenticator
Open Authenticator and choose +. Scan the setup QR code, or use manual entry if the service provides a setup key. Give the account a recognizable label and save it. Keep the QR code and key private.
Complete Coinbase’s setup confirmation using the current generated code.
Keep a way back in
Keep multiple independent methods available. If one fails, Coinbase can offer Try another way. Push notifications and passkeys are separate from authenticator codes.
If a code is rejected, check the account label and device time, then try a fresh code. Troubleshoot a rejected code.
