Before you start
Use the Instagram app for iPhone or Android and stay signed in while setting up.
Open the security settings
- Open your profile and the menu, then Password and security. If your version shows Accounts Center first, open it.
- Choose Two-factor authentication and select the Instagram account. Choose Authentication app, then Next.
Connect Authenticator
Open Authenticator and choose +. Scan the setup QR code, or use manual entry if the service provides a setup key. Give the account a recognizable label and save it. Keep the QR code and key private.
Return to Instagram and enter the current code from the new entry to confirm setup.
Keep a way back in
Save Instagram backup codes. Meta is gradually changing Accounts Center to Meta Account settings, so the entry point can differ.
If a code is rejected, check the account label and device time, then try a fresh code. Troubleshoot a rejected code.
