Set up 2FA for PlayStation

Before you start

This guide uses online Account Management. Passkey sign-in is a separate option.

Open the security settings

1. Sign in to PlayStation Account Management and open Security.
2. Beside 2-step Verification Status, choose Edit, then Authenticator App.

Connect Authenticator

Open Authenticator and choose +. Scan the setup QR code, or use manual entry if the service provides a setup key. Give the account a recognizable label and save it. Keep the QR code and key private.

Submit the current verification code in PlayStation Account Management and choose Activate.

Record the PlayStation backup codes. On PS5, the equivalent starting point is Settings → Users and Accounts → Security → 2-Step Verification.

If a code is rejected, check the account label and device time, then try a fresh code. Troubleshoot a rejected code.
