Before you start
Use Reddit in a computer web browser. These steps apply when signing in with a Reddit password; Google or Apple sign-in has its own security settings.
Open the security settings
- Open your username menu → Settings.
- Under Account authorization, turn on Two-factor authentication and confirm your Reddit password.
Connect Authenticator
Open Authenticator and choose +. Scan the setup QR code, or use manual entry if the service provides a setup key. Give the account a recognizable label and save it. Keep the QR code and key private.
Confirm the current six-digit code in Reddit and complete its setup prompts.
Keep a way back in
Save Reddit backup codes before leaving setup. Old Reddit places this option under preferences → password/email.
If a code is rejected, check the account label and device time, then try a fresh code. Troubleshoot a rejected code.
