Set up 2FA for Stripe

Before you start

These steps protect your Stripe Dashboard login, not a customer checkout payment.

Open the security settings

1. Open Personal details in the Stripe Dashboard.
2. Under Two-step authentication, choose Add authentication method → Use an authenticator app.

Connect Authenticator

Open Authenticator and choose +. Scan the setup QR code, or use manual entry if the service provides a setup key. Give the account a recognizable label and save it. Keep the QR code and key private.

Return to Stripe and confirm the current code shown by the new entry.

Keep a way back in

Write down Stripe’s backup code and keep it safely. Updating the authenticator method for a new device invalidates codes associated with the old setup.

If a code is rejected, check the account label and device time, then try a fresh code. Troubleshoot a rejected code.
